With all their money on Berti Vogts, with all the support for the team,
Nigeria still fell to Cote d'Ivoire yesterday and Nigerians in Sekondi
have expressed outrage and called for the sack of the German trainer.
At the stadium was such number of top Nigerians that the ordinary
ones felt it was a good venue to express their feelings to the
authorities. They passed a vote of no confidence on Vogts for his
selection.
hey saw no reason in the choice of Makinwa who came in when things
were bad and couldn't have rescued any situation. Before then was the
selection of Kanu Nwankwo who was injured in the warm-up section and
was limping before the match. Kanu failed to click. So was Mikel Obi
and John Utaka.
Nigerians couldn't understand why Uche Ike was left on the bench and
why Osaze came in so late. They found Vogts incompetent and loudly
voiced out their anger after the match.
Interestingly, Chief Mike Adenuga, the man who pays Vogts 50,000
euros a month was in Ghana to watch the match. Outgoing chairman of
EFCC, Nuhu Ribadu and Abdulrahaman Abdulrazaq, the chairman of First
Fuels and chairman of Abuja FC were there.
Other dignitaries included Governors, Saraki, Adebayo Akala, Rotimi Amaechi and so many senators and other lawmakers.
There were also the likes of Solomon Ogba, Remi Oyewode of IGI,
Daniel Amokachi, Samson Siasia, Mike Itemuagbor, Segun Arinze etc.
Before these people, Nigerians called for the sack of Vogts. NFA was
so shocked to make official statement but would likely stand behind
their coach.
